Hardware Quality Engineer

The Hardware QA/QC Engineer is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of the quality assurance and quality control across the hardware line of Output products. This position requires high levels of attention to detail and organization.  The candidate will work side-by-side with a variety of teams internal and external to the company including Product, Customer Support, and Operations to ensure a great customer experience. 

This is a fully remote position, but will require extensive travel to our manufacturing facilities throughout the world (over 50% depending on base location). While the global health crisis has put a hold on any international travel for the time being, domestic travel will still be expected so long as it can be done safely.


  • Oversee all aspects of QA including development, design, and testing of inspection procedures and standards

  • Collaboration with Product, Customer Support, and Operations teams to understand and define business requirements

  • Manage the relationship with our external manufacturing quality and production teams

  • Own key QC metrics across all hardware products, including warranty claim volume and financial impact

  • Research, review, recommend and implement new technology solutions to optimize QA/QC

  • Create detailed QC documentation and analysis across manufacturing cycles

  • Analyzes on-going manufacturing performance. Establishes KPI goals for each part of the process.

  • Ability to work in an environment that promotes 

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years experience for a consumer facing hardware company with a proven track record of successfully managing ongoing manufacturing and launching new products.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Highly organized

Beneficial Experience

  • Background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar technical field

  • Experience with furniture manufacturing or consumer electronics manufacturing

  • Firsthand knowledge of the musical instrument industry and home studio market
